ROOM OF ONE’S OWN
PERSONIALIZED DWELLING, 2020
The Room of One’s Own is a space created out of my specific movement patterns throughout the day, where I tracked my time commitments from schoolwork to hobbies. The project is randomly placed in a 7 by 7-meter grid with my other peers. The Room of One’s Own has 2 points of access to my neighboring grid mates and creates different programs between the grid like a talking space or a walking path. The project allows for work, rest, activity, and relaxation all in one small space
MOVEMENTG MAPPING.
The space is split off into different programs specifically designed to make the space as much as a sanctuary as possible. The hang out space is placed away from the main bay to allow for privacy and an easy escape from social interaction if need be. The desk space is placed so that the form of the building closes off the rest of the main space to lessen the distraction from the rest of the room. There is a exercise space that splits the bed from the reading nook so that it is easy to determine when it is time for rest or relaxation.
